Anger Managment

I was about 22 years old the last time I broke a club. After a marginal shot, I took my 9 iron to the bottom of my golf bag which resulted in denting a half dozen other clubs. It was expensive. I acted like an idiot. I learned a lesson.

The lesson was a common one in golf, get over and move on. I’ve played many a round of golf, and I’m sure you have too, with someone who gets in that rut and ultimately controls the vibe of the group through their own tantrums. It’s zero fun to play golf with that person.

Not only does controlling your negative emotions benefit your game, but more importantly it doesn’t affect the people you’re playing with. I never want to be responsible for taking away from someone’s day.

YES, I get frustrated on the golf course. We all do. It’s ok. We see at our courses. We see it on TV. We know the right and wrong of handling those situations.

So, make it a point to think about this and prepare yourself for your inevitable frustrations that we all experience each round.

Take a deep breath. Be positive. Be encouraging. Praise your good shots and forget the bad ones.
